FROM SCRATCH! comes to Birmingham Hippodrome on Tuesday 12 May!

Call Out Deadline: Wednesday 22 April, midday.

FROM SCRATCH! is an evening where performance makers can share their work-in-progress with a live audience and hear feedback and development ideas. It’s a time to get your show seen and ask the questions you want to hear from audiences.

In May we’re at Birmingham Hippodrome as part of their Origins Festival on Tuesday 12 May to bring the best works-in-progress to audiences to give artists a chance to get feedback on your work and for audiences to see the beginning of the next big thing. From today until Wednesday 22 April at midday we’re calling out for performances that are 15-20 minute long. This evening we’re particularly keen to hear from either low-tech performances or scripted work. This is a low pressure, low stakes offer to really get a feel for the where your work is at.

This particular scratch night will take place in Studio 4 at Birmingham Hippodrome with limited tech, so please be aware we will not be able to offer technical support outside of some sound and microphones.

Info for you

Successful performances will receive

  • A fee of £300

  • Filming and photography of your piece

  • A meeting with IGC to help support the next steps post scratch night

Successful companies will have to register as a supplier with University of Derby for payment.  (We'll send you more info about that later on)

FROM SCRATCH! will take place at on Tuesday 12 May.

We are not a producing company and as such cannot help produce a script. We do not have a pool of actors. We are on the lookout for performances that are already on their feet and ready to get specific feedback from audiences. We’ll be asking you to provide three questions you’d like to ask the audience. These could be ‘how did this character make you feel?’ ‘Does this style of delivery work overall?’.

There will be a photographer present taking images of the rehearsals and the live performance, as well as a videographer making a recording. These will be sent to the companies after the performance to be used for future promo and will be used by IGC so future promotional use.
